![]() Athena felt lattice shawl
This is a felted shawl that I made by weaving thin strips of hand
dyed Merino wool (from yarnwench.com) into a lattice and wet felting it into a thin and delicate piece
of wearable art. The colors are pinks to black, soft but strong,
which made me think of Athena...the Greek Goddess of Weaving, a strong warrior,
independent, beautiful.
This is a delicate and soft piece of felt. It will last a long time if you
don't use it for everyday wear. It measures about 75 inches long tip to tip,
and 19 inches wide. It has felt fringe on the ends. Hand wash (do not agitate),
drip or flat dry, warm iron.
It can be worn as a shawl, or is lightweight enough to be bunched up as a scarf. The picture below, left shows
it with one end gently pulled through one of the holes in the lattice.
